This means, they must be slid into the pipe before welding. They are suitable for low pressure applications.

Grade 304 of stainless steel plate flange is the most resistance to corrosion and thus are not likely to rust. They have a high amount of chromium which is responsible behind this property. Grade 316 is similar to Grade 304, but the former has molybdenum added to its chemical composition, which further enhances the corrosion resistance properties. Even though ferritic and martensitic steel are more affordable compared to the austenitic steel, their corrosion resisting priorities are also lower due to the presence of less chromium and nickel in their chemical composition. However, it is essential to remember that even the lower grade of stainless steel will not rust due to the interaction between its alloying elements and the environment.
