What is ASTM A350 LF2 Flanges?
The ASTM A350 LF2 Flanges are known for their moderate strength and impact toughness. The ASTM A350 specification with grade LF2 are widely used for manufacturing different types of flanges and fittings. A350 Gr LF2 Weld Neck Flange Vs Sa350 LF2 Blind Flange
The A350 Gr LF2 Weld Neck Flange is mostly used in applications where the situation is severe and critical. They can withstand high-pressure and also a wide range of fluctuations in both temperature and pressure. These flanges are used in the piping connection that might carry volatile and hazardous fluids, and their temperature might be in the sub-zero range.
On the other hand, the Sa350 LF2 Blind Flange is primarily used for sealing the ends of a piping system or the nozzle of a pressure vessel opening. It is either installed in that part of the system which is not in use, or used for testing the flow of liquid or gas through the pipe. They help the engineers to get easy access to the pipe for maintenance and repair, by sealing the flow.

A350 LF2 Class 1 And Class 2 Difference
The main characteristic that differentiates A350 LF2 Class 1 And Class 2 is their minimum application temperature. For A350 LF2 Class 1, the minimum application temperature is -46 degrees C, whereas it is -18 degrees C for Class 2.

A350 LF3 Flanges Vs SA350 LF2 Flanges
The A350 LF3 and the SA 350 LF2 materials are both used in the manufacturing of forged flanges. They have a slightly different chemical composition and thus, their properties are also quite different from one another.

  • While the SA 350 material with grade LF2 can be used for services where the temperature goes down till -45.5 degrees C, the same for the grade LF3 is -101.1 degrees C.
  • They have different forging temperatures. For LF2 grade, the A350 material is forged around 1230-1260 degrees C, and they are not forged below the temperature of 900-925 degrees C. Whereas, in the case of the LF3 grade, the material is forged at around 117-1205 degrees C but not below 925 degrees C.

Heat treatment on both the grades would be done continuously, post the welding process. Also, they are machined as per the requirements. The on-going condition would help determine if the machining would be done on forged, normalized, or annealed structure.

For this material, the forging temperature should be between 900 and 1200oC. To avoid excessive scaling, soak times should be maintained to a minimum, but enough time should be allowed for the centre to reach furnace temperature. Pieces should be allowed to cool in steady air after forging.

ASTM A350 LF2 offers good to very good machinability, depending on condition, and operations like sawing, turning, broaching, milling, and so on can be completed satisfactorily using normal machine tool manufacturer recommended speeds and feeds.

LTCS Flanges is wrapped in plastic cloth and packed in a wooden box, a wooden pallet, and a fumigated wooden carrate. Our packaging is fully waterproof and transportable, with proper strips on a wooden box with a lifting point.
