What is Gun Metal Flanges?
The gunmetal material is an alloy made up of copper, tin, and zinc. It also has other elements like nickel and lead in its composition. Once the flange is placed into the pipe, double welding is done on the inside and the outside to ensure enhanced strength and leakage proof connections. They are mostly used for applications that involve low temperature, low pressure and there should also be less risk of leakage.
The Gun Metal Threaded Flanges are also known as screwed flanges. They have a thread inside the bore of the flange that fits into the pipe via the matching male thread that is on the pipe. The threaded flanges come with simple and speedy installations, and as there is no welding involved, the cost of the installation is also lower compared to the slip on flanges. These flanges are mostly used for utility services like air, water, etc.
