• Stock Finish: The most commonly chosen flange surface finish since it is basically acceptable for all routine service situations. When compressed, the soft face of a gasket embeds into this finish, assisting in the formation of a seal, and a high amount of friction is formed between the mating surfaces.
• Spiral Serrated: A continuous or phonographic spiral groove that differs from the stock finish in that the groove is often made with a 90-° tool that forms a "V" geometry with 45° angled serration.
• Concentric Serrated: This finish has concentric grooves. Serrations are spread evenly over the face using a 90° tool.
• Smooth Finish: This finish has no visible tool markings. These finishes are commonly used on gaskets with metal facings such double jacketed, flat steel, and corrugated metal.
