What is Incoloy 800 Flanges?
The Incoloy 800 material is an alloy of nickel and chromium, that offers excellent stability at elevated temperatures. These are mainly used in applications that have a stable structure. The services should also have good strength even after prolonged exposure to high temperatures. The Incoloy 800 Flanges are used in a wide range of industries that work in different types of corrosive environments and also high-temperatures. The flanges also possess good stress rupture properties .
The Incoloy 800 Flanges have high strength and offer excellent resistance to carburization and oxidation at elevated temperatures. They also offer good resistance to corrosion in various acidic and sulfur-containing environments. These flanges are mainly used in applications with temperatures that go up to 593 degrees C. However, if the Incoloy 800 Flanges are exposed to any aggressive media, within a temperature range of 538 degrees C to 760 degrees C, the material can get sensitized and be susceptible to intergranular corrosion.
Due to all the unique properties, the Incoloy 800 Flanges are used in different types of applications across several industries. They are used in the construction of heat exchangers, process piping, carbonizing equipment, nuclear and power plants, chemical and petroleum processing, and many more.
Alloy 800 Slip on Flange Vs DIN 1.4876 Weld Neck Flange
The Alloy 800 Slip on Flange is one of the popular flange types that comes with a bore at the center. It is first slipped into the pipe and then double welded from inside and outside to reduce the chances of leakage. Even though the Alloy 800 Slip on Flange offers good corrosion resistance and can be used at high temperature, they must be used for less critical applications where the chances of leakage is minimum.
The DIN 1.4876 Weld Neck Flange has similar chemical composition and they are also used in similar environments, but due to the structure and the nature of the connection, they are used in applications that involve severe and critical conditions. They are easily recognizable due to their tapered hub and are joined to the pipeline by butt welding.
Nickel 800 Blind Flange vs ASTM B564 UNS N08800 Socket Weld Flange
The Nickel 800 Blind Flange comes without any hub or bore in the center. They look like a disk that can be bolted at the end of a pipeline or open nozzle of a pressure vessel. It is mostly used in pipelines that are not actively in use. They can also be used in case maintenance or repairs are required inside the pipe.
The ASTM B564 UNS N08800 Socket Weld Flange has a recessed area wherein the pipe is installed and then a fillet weld is done to establish the joint connection. These types of fittings are mostly used in smaller pipes that come with a high pressure. This type of flange helps to maintain the smooth flow of liquid or gas inside the pipeline.
Incoloy 800h Flanges Vs Incoloy 800Ht Flanges
The Incoloy 800h and the Incoloy 800Ht are two different iron, nickel and chromium alloys that have been solid solution strengthened. The main difference between the Incoloy 800h Flanges Vs Incoloy 800Ht Flanges, lies in the restricted content of aluminium and titanium in 800HT alloy. Due to the chemical composition, the 800Ht material consists of higher stress rupture and creep properties. Both the flanges are used in similar types of applications in similar environments, but the alloy 800HT offers better performance in a few aspects. They are both superior to the alloy 800 material.
