What is WPHY 60 Fittings?
The WPHY 60 material grade is basically a carbon-based stainless steel material. The WPHY 60 Fittings are wrought; they are either seamless or welded and come with a high yield strength of 414 MPa. There are several other elements present in the WPHY 60 alloy like nickel, chromium, manganese, vanadium, niobium, etc., which gives the fittings their unique mechanical and physical properties, even after being present in trace amounts. Manufacturers can customize the dimensions of the WPHY 60 Fittings according to specific requirements. Their nominal diameter can vary between ½ “ to 48” and the various wall thickness makes up the schedules from SCH10 to XXS. According to the dimensions, the standards might also vary according to ASME B16.9 and B16.28.
The WPHY 60 Fittings have high strength due to its chemical composition. It also possesses excellent durability, sturdiness, and has high tensile strength. The WPHY 60 Fittings are made with dimensional accuracy. The WPHY 60 Fittings are surface treated with various solutions like transparent oil, anti corrosion oil, or hot galvanization. All of these enhance the material’s ability to resist corrosion.
Apart from general corrosion, the WPHY 60 Fittings is also resistant to stress corrosion cracking by chloride ions. This is why they are widely used in the marine industry. The fittings also have a huge applications in construction, engineering, automobile, sugar mills, petrochemicals, etc.
The WPHY 60 Fittings are very versatile as they are available in different sizes and dimensions. They are also available in different types, which accelerates the working of many industries and hence are considered as a cost-saving solution. These fittings are available in seamless and welded variants. They can also be fabricated.
ASTM A860 Gr WPHY 60 Elbow Vs WPHY 60 End Cap
The ASTM A860 Gr WPHY 60 Elbow basically helps in changing the direction of the flow and hence they are one of the most used pipe fitting of any material grade. They can change the flow direction either at an angle of 45 degrees or 90 degrees. They are available in short radius which gives a sharper bent and long radius, which reduces the friction of the fluid inside the pipe.
The WPHY 60 End Cap is basically placed at the end of the pipe, and hence their dimensions should be equal to the outer diameter of the pipe. They are used at the dead end of the piping system, or in those areas where there is no flow. They can also be used as piping headers for any future connections.
MSS SP75 WPHY 60 Equal Tee and ASTM A860 WPHY 60 Reducing Tee
The MSS SP75 WPHY 60 Equal Tee and the ASTM A860 WPHY 60 Reducing Tee are T-shaped pipe fittings with three branches. They are used for diving, combining, and adjusting the flow rate along with changing the flow direction. The main difference between an equal tee and a reducing tee are in their diameters. For an equal tee, the diameters of all the three branches are the same but for the reducing tee, the branch diameter is smaller than that of the main line diameter. Also, the reducing tee is more commonly used compared to the equal tee, as the former has more functions for different environments.
