What is 254 SMO Pipe Fittings?
The 254 SMO material can be described as autenistic steel with high alloy, and they are particularly used for marine and applications in aggressive chloride bearing media. The 254 SMO Pipe Fittings are known for their excellent resistance to crevice corrosion and pitting. They possess higher strength compared to the conventional austenitic stainless steel. The 254 SMO Pipe Fittings also have good resistance to general corrosion and stress related corrosion cracking. They have high weldability. Depending on the joint welding, the products are manufactured with different product standards.
Due to all these properties, the 254 SMO Pipe Fittings are used in different types of applications including the equipment that can handle sea water, hydraulic tubing, pulp bleaching plant equipment, gas cleaning systems, etc.
The 254 SMO Pipe Fittings have a very low carbon content, which means there is a very little risk of carbide precipitation during the welding procedure. This means that the fittings are resistant to intergranular corrosion. They possess excellent formability but low machinability. The F44 Buttweld Elbow is designed to be welded at its ends on site to join with the piping system. It helps to change the direction of flow at 45 degrees or 90 degrees angle. They have good mechanical strength and high ductility. They are capable of resisting corrosion in a wide range of environments. The given material grade is a fully austenitic alloy that has excellent resistance to various aqueous and aggressive environments. They are also resistant to pitting, crevice corrosion and have higher strength compared to the conventional austenitic steel.
